Under the Covers with The Shady Groove: Podcast #130
We’re back with another of the famous Theme-Time Radio shows from The Shady Groove. Today we go under the covers and explore the righteous genre of cover songs. I absolutely love when bands cover other bands. It is the highest form of flattery for a musician. Its the ultimate tribute. I love to see the variety of different directions an artist can take in recreating a favorite song. And then there’s the good, bad, and ugly. Some covers can rival or even surpass the original. Some can not even come close to being as good as the original. Either way, its an entertaining genre that will continue to delight forever..So enjoy this edition of The Shady Groove Podcast. Listen loud, sing along, have fun. Live it, love it!

Audio Vino: Shady Groove Podcast #68
Wine and song. So many similarities. So many good times. Both are better when shared with others but can also be graciously enjoyed on one’s own. Songs tend to ‘taste’ better when drinking wine and wine seems to ‘sound’ better when listening to your favorite tunes (See what I did there).
There is obviously a long and wonderful history of the interweaving of these two arts, and always being the historian, Shady Groove sought to find the best songs about wine. Many songs did not make the list. One, because its only an hour podcast, two because some of the songs are just not that good. We may have to do another Audio Vino podcast in the future, we’ll just have to wait and see. Anyway, enough rambling by me. Lets get to the music.
These were the deliciously baccanalian audio tracks that were included in this weeks’ Audio Vino Podcast:
Eric Burdon & War – Spill The Wine ++ Delbert McClinton – Two More Bottles Of Wine ++ Tom Paxton – Bottle Of Wine ++ The Band – Strawberry Wine ++ The Rolling Stones – Sweet Virginia ++ Jerry Lee Lewis – Drinkin’ Wine, Spoo-Dee-O-Dee ++ Muddy “Mississippi” Waters – Champagne & Reefer ++ The Gourds – Cracklins ++ Derek & The Dominos – Bottle Of Red Wine ++ Merle Haggard – Wine Takes Me Away ++ UB40 – Red Red Wine ++ Willie Nelson – Yesterday’s Wine ++ The Gourds – Out On The Vine ++ Lambert, Hendricks and Ross – Gimme That Wine ++ The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band – Two Bottles Of Wine ++ The Gourds – When Wine Was Cheap
