What’s In A Track Number? Shady Groove Podcast #69
Howdy, all you Shady Groovers out there. Though I’d try something new on this weeks podcast. Here we explore the art of track selection on albums. Each song on this podcast is selected in succession in terms of track number on its own given album. For example, track #1, Floating Bridge by Gregg Allman, is the 1st track on Low Country Blues, California Stars is track #2 on Billy Bragg and Wilco’s Mermaid Avenue, and so on and so forth. My hope was that it would “flow”, like listening to an album the whole way through. Let me know what you think.
Podcast 69 included these finely tuned and well-placed musical tracks:
Gregg Allman – Floating Bridge ++ Billy Bragg and Wilco – California Stars ++ Leon Russell – Make You Feel Good ++ Alabama Shakes – Rise To The Sun ++ Brother Josephus – O Moses ++ Michael Kiwanuka – Bones ++ Elvis Costello – (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes ++ Boz Scaggs – Loan Me A Dime ++ The Black Keys – So He Won’t Break ++ Bob Dylan & The Band – Apple Suckling Tree ++ Cake – I Bombed Korea ++ Mark Mothersbaugh – Piranas Are A Very Tricky Species ++ The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Bold As Love ++ The Gourds – Pushed Her Down
